## Abstract

A medication confirmation method and apparatus. The method of an embodiment of the invention includes the steps of capturing one or more video sequences of a user administering medication, storing the captured one or more video sequences, and comparing at least one of the stored video sequences with a corresponding one or more prerecorded video sequences to confirm that the user has properly administered the medication.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A medication administration continuation apparatus, comprising:
a video capture device for capturing one or more video sequences of a user administering medication;
a memory for storing the captured one or more video sequences; and
a processor for comparing at least one of the stored video sequences with a corresponding one or more prerecorded video sequences to confirm that the user has properly administered the medication.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The medication confirmation apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one stored video sequence is a stock video sequence.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The medication confirmation apparatus of claim 1, wherein the at least one stored video sequence is a prerecorded video sequence of the user administering medication.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

### Claim 8

A medication confirmation method, comprising the steps of:
capturing one or more video sequences of a user administering medication;
storing the captured one or more video sequences; and
comparing at least one of the stored video sequences with a corresponding one or more prerecorded video sequences to confirm that the user has properly administered the medication.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprising the step of storing at least one stock video sequence as the al least one stored video sequence.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

Use method of claim 8, further comprising the step of storing at least one prerecorded video sequence of the user administering medication as the least one stored video sequence.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprising the step of prompting the user to perform a particular sequence of actions to be stored as the one or more video sequences.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the particular sequence of actions is designed to assist in determining proper medication administration.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the particular sequence of actions further comprises:
displaying a medication in the palm of a user;
ingesting the medication;
displaying an empty palm of the user after medication ingestion; and
drinking water after display of the empty palm.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprising the step of transmitting one or more of the at least one stored video sequences to a remote location for analysis.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, further comprising the step of receiving information from the remote location.

### Claim 16

A medication confirmation method, comprising the steps of:
determining a sequence of steps to be performed by a patient tor administration of a medication;
determining one or more steps of the sequence of steps that require video confirmation;
determining one or more or the steps that require video confirmation that require customized video examples;
prompting the user to perform each of the one or more steps that require customized video examples:
prompting the user to properly position themselves and any required objects when performing each of the one or more steps;
determining a sequence of prerecorded video sequences comprising a combination of one or more customized video examples; and
storing the sequence of prerecorded video sequences.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The method of claim 16, further comprising the steps of:
capturing one or more video sequences of a user administering medication;
storing the captured one or more video sequences; and
comparing at least one of the stored video sequences with the corresponding one or more prerecorded video sequences to confirm that the user has properly administered the medication.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the sequence of prerecorded video sequences further comprises:
displaying a medication in the palm of a user;
ingesting the medication;
displaying an empty palm of the user after medication ingestion; and
drinking water after display of the empty palm.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The method of claim 18, wherein the user is prompted where to move their hand during performance of the sequence of prerecorded video sequences.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)
