Abstract
The present invention utilizes patient-specific landmarks in order to treat headache pain. In one aspect, the present invention relates to the administration of Clostridial toxins, such as a botulinum neurotoxin, to a patient suffering from a headache pain, where the location of administration of the botulinum toxin is based upon at least one suture line of the patient's skull.
Claims21
A method for treating a patient suffering from a headache, comprising the step of administering a therapeutically effective dose of a Clostridial toxin in the vicinity of at least one suture line of the patient's skull, wherein the administration alleviates at least one symptom of the headache, wherein the therapeutically effective dose of the Clostridial toxin administered is lower than a therapeutically effective dose required for administration to a muscle or a subcutaneous tissue of the face and head, thereby treating the patient suffering from the headache.
A method for alleviating a headache pain, comprising the step of determining the location of at least one suture line;
- and administering a therapeutically effective amount of a botulinum toxin type A to a patient in need thereof, wherein the botulinum toxin type A is administered in the vicinity of the at least one suture line of the patient's skull, wherein the therapeutically effective amount of the botulinum toxin type A administered is lower than a therapeutically effective amount required for administration to a muscle or a subcutaneous tissue of the face and head, thereby alleviating the headache pain.
