Pharmaceutical applications for (s)-norketamine and salts thereof

A pharmaceutical composition for prevention and/or treatment of a depressive symptom, the pharmaceutical composition comprising (S)-norketamine, a prodrug of (S)-norketamine, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of any of these in an amount effective for alleviation of the depressive symptom, and being substantially free of (R)-norketamine or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.

A method for prevention and/or treatment of a depressive symptom, the method comprising administering, to a patient in need of prevention and/or treatment of a depressive symptom, (S)-norketamine, a prodrug of (S)-norketamine, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of any of these in an amount effective for alleviation of the depressive symptom.

Use of (S)-norketamine, a prodrug of (S)-norketamine, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of any of these for production of a pharmaceutical composition for prevention and/or treatment of a depressive symptom.

A drug for prevention and/or treatment of a depressive symptom, the drug containing (5-methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxol-4-yl)methyl-(S)-(1-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-oxocyclohexyl) carbamate or 1-((((S)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-oxocyclohexyl)carbamoyl)oxy)ethyl isobutyrate.
