An antimicrobial polymer for use in an ophthalmic implant, comprising
- at least one antimicrobial monomer;
- and
- at least one other monomer selected from an acrylic, silicone, vinyl and collagen monomer.
A method of preparing an antimicrobial polymer for use in an ophthalmic implant, comprising:
- reacting at least one antimicrobial monomer with at least one other monomer selected from an acrylic, silicone, vinyl and collagen monomer to provide the antimicrobial polymer;
- and
- using the antimicrobial polymer in the ophthalmic implant.
