Bus controller and related methods

An electronic device, comprising memory configured to store data, instructions, or a combination thereof, a processor coupled to the memory, a bus controller coupled to the processor, and a system bus coupled to the bus controller, wherein the bus controller is configured to:

• split a data exchange associated with a data exchange tag into a plurality of fractional data transactions;
• receive one or more completion notifications indicating that one or more of the plurality of fractional data transactions have been completed;
• determine, in response to the one or more completion notifications, that each of the plurality of fractional data transactions associated with the data exchange tag have been completed;
• and
• notify the processor that the data exchange has been completed in response to the determination that each of the plurality of fractional data transactions has been completed.

An apparatus, comprising:

• means for splitting a data exchange associated with a data exchange tag into a plurality of fractional data transactions;
• means for receiving one or more completion notifications indicating that one or more of the plurality of fractional data transactions have been completed;
• means for determining, in response to the one or more completion notifications, that each of the plurality of fractional data transactions associated with the data exchange tag have been completed;
• and
• means for notifying that the data exchange has been completed in response to the determination that each of the plurality of fractional data transactions has been completed.
