Abstract
The invention relates to a cell capable of converting one or more pentose sugar and one or more hexose sugar into fermentation product constitutively expressing one or more heterologous or homologous polypeptide having the amino acid sequence set out in SEQ ID NO: 20, or a variant polypeptide thereof having at least 45% identity to SEQ ID NO 20. In an embodiment the heterologous polypeptide has glyoxalase activity.
Claims17
A cell capable of converting one or more pentose sugar and one or more hexose sugar into fermentation product constitutively expressing one or more heterologous or homologous polypeptide having the amino acid sequence set out in SEQ ID NO:
- 20 or a variant polypeptide thereof, having at least 45% identity to SEQ ID NO 20.
An cell capable of converting one or more pentose sugar and or one or more hexose sugar into fermentation product comprising a constitutively expressed heterologous or homologous polynucleotide which comprises:
- (a) the nucleotide sequence as set out in SEQ ID NO:
- 27;
- (b) a nucleotide sequence having at least about 50% sequence identity with the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 27;
- (c) a fragment of a nucleotide sequence as defined in (a), (b) or (c) having at least 100 nucleotides;
- (d) a sequence which is degenerate as a result of the genetic code to a sequence as defined in any one of (a), (b), or (c);
- (e) a nucleotide sequence which is the reverse complement of a nucleotide sequence as defined in (a), (b), (c), or (d).
