Abstract
This invention is directed to novel mixed transition metal iron (II/III) catalysts for the extraction of oxygen from CO2 and the selective reaction with organic compounds.

A method for converting CO2 and carbon to carbon monoxide which comprises contacting the mixed transition metal iron (II/III) catalyst wherein the mixed transition metal iron (II/III) catalyst is an iron (II/III) oxide and a second metal oxide selected from the group consisting of Ag, Bi, Co, Cu, La, Mn, and Zn oxides with an appropriate CO2 feed stream under appropriate temperature and pressure conditions.
