Abstract
Apparatuses, methods, services, and systems which monitor and track location of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment are disclosed. The AED location can be identified with manual descriptive information during installation as well as with ongoing location tracking using electronic means. The invention includes a feature to identify if the AED is physically moved. Other embodiments of this invention relate to the use of a software application that will show the availability of the AED device on a map or other means to disseminate this information to a potential user and advise the owner or designated party that the device has been physically moved.
Claims5
A trackable automated external defibrillator, comprising:
- an Automated External Defibrillator (AED);
- and
- a smart tracker attached to or embedded within the AED, the smart tracker comprising:
- an accelerometer which generates an electronic signal upon movement of the AED;
- a microprocessor electrically coupled to the accelerometer which receives the electronic signal and generates an alert message;
- and
- a cellular chip electrically coupled to the microprocessor which transmits the alert message over an antenna through a cellular connection to a service executing on a computer which processes the alert message to identify the AED and reports the movement via email, text or an application.
