Abstract
A device may include a wavelength converting layer on an epitaxial layer. The wavelength converting layer may include a first surface having a width that is equal to a width of the epitaxial layer, a second surface having a width that is less than the width of the first surface, and angled sidewalls. A conformal non-emission layer may be formed on the angled sidewalls and sidewalls of the epitaxial layer, such that the second surface of the wavelength converting layer is exposed.

A device comprising:
- a wavelength converting layer on an epitaxial layer, the wavelength converting layer comprising a first surface having a width that is equal to a width of the epitaxial layer, a second surface having a width that is less than the width of the first surface, and angled sidewalls;
- and
- a conformal non-emission layer on the angled sidewalls and sidewalls of the epitaxial layer, such that the second surface of the wavelength converting layer is exposed.
A method of forming a device, the method comprising:
- forming a wavelength converting on an epitaxial layer, the wavelength converting layer comprising a first surface having a width that is equal to a width of the epitaxial layer, a second surface having a width that is less than the width of the first surface, and angled sidewalls;
- and
- forming a conformal non-emission layer on the angled sidewalls and sidewalls of the epitaxial layer, such that the second surface of the wavelength converting layer is exposed.
A light emitting diode (LED) array comprising:
- a first wavelength converting layer on a first pixel;
- and
- a second wavelength converting layer on a second pixel, the first wavelength converting layer and the second wavelength converting layer each comprising a first surface having a width that is equal to a width of the first pixel and the second pixel, a second surface having a width that is less than the width of the first surface, and angled sidewalls;
- and
- a conformal non-emission layer on the angled sidewalls, such that the second surface of the first wavelength converting layer and the second surface of the second wavelength converting layer is exposed.
