Abstract
Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, a computer program product, and a computer system for a naming convention reconciler. A computer receives and pre-processing first dictionary 114 and second dictionary 116. In addition, the computer parses the pre-processed dictionaries to extract one or more names from each of the two dictionaries. The computer then generates a hash table of the names extracted from the second dictionary and searches the hash table for names that include a word in common with a name extracted from first dictionary 114. Based on identifying a name in the hash table that includes a word in common with a name extracted from first dictionary 114, the computer determines a similarity between the names and stores an association between the names having a greatest similarity.
Claims20
A method for converting a name n1 from a first naming convention to a second naming convention comprising:
- searching for at least one name from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1;
- and
- in response to finding a name n2 from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1, using a metric to determine if a difference between name n1 and name n2 exceeds a threshold.
A computer program product for converting a name n1 from a first naming convention to a second naming convention, the computer program product comprising:
- one or more computer-readable storage devices and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more tangible storage devices, the program instructions comprising:
- program instructions to search for at least one name from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1;
- and
- in response to finding a name n2 from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1, program instructions to use a metric to determine if a difference between name n1 and name n2 exceeds a threshold.
A computer system for converting a name n1 from a first naming convention to a second naming convention, the computer system comprising:
- one or more processors, one or more computer-readable memories, one or more computer-readable tangible storage devices, and program instructions stored on at least one of the one or more storage devices for execution by at least one of the one or more processors via at least one of the one or more memories, the program instructions comprising:
- program instructions to search for at least one name from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1;
- in response to finding a name n2 from the second naming convention having a word in common with name n1, program instructions to apply a filter to name n1 and name n2;
- and
- if name n1 and name n2 pass the filter, program instructions to use a metric to determine if a difference between name n1 and name n2 exceeds a threshold.
