Abstract
The disclosure provides a method for accelerating the rebuilding of storage arrays. The method comprises identifying a failure of an original storage device that is a member of a storage array and reconstructing lost information that was on the original storage device onto one or more first storage devices based on information stored on one or more of remaining members of the storage array. Each of the one or more first storage devices has a higher I/O throughput than the original storage device.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- identifying a failure of an original storage device that is a member of a storage array;
- and
- reconstructing lost information that was on the original storage device onto one or more first storage devices based on information stored on one or more of remaining members of the storage array, wherein each of the one or more first storage devices has a higher I/O throughput than the original storage device.
A computing system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- a memory coupled to at least one of the one or more processors;
- a set of computer program instructions stored in the memory and executed by at least one of the one or more processors in order to perform actions of:
- identifying a failure of an original storage device that is a member of a storage array;
- and
- reconstructing lost information that was on the original storage device onto one or more first storage devices based on information stored on one or more of remaining members of the storage array,
- wherein each of the one or more first storage devices has a higher I/O throughput than the original storage device.
A computer program product for accelerating rebuilding of a storage array, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions being executable by a computer to cause the computer to:
- identify a failure of an original storage device that is a member of a storage array;
- and
- reconstruct lost information that was on the original storage device onto one or more first storage devices based on information stored on one or more of remaining members of the storage array,
- wherein each of the one or more first storage devices has a higher I/O throughput than the original storage device.
