Actuating user interface for media player

A method of controlling an electronic device in wireless communication with a remote input device, comprising:

• receiving,
• with a circular input element of the remote input device, a rotational input from an external object, or
• with one or more capacitive sensor of the remote input device, a scrolling input;
• generating, with the remote input device, first signals for scrolling a graphical user interface (GUI) of the remote input device based on the scrolling input;
• generating, with the remote input device, second signals based on the rotational input or the first signals;
• and
• transmitting the second signals from the remote input device to the electronic device to enable the electronic device to perform one or more functions associated with one or more applications accessible on the electronic device.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by a remote input device, cause the remote input device to:

• receive,
• with a circular input element of the remote input device, a rotational input from an external object, or
• with one or more capacitive sensor of the remote input device, a scrolling input;
• generate, with the remote input device, first signals for scrolling a graphical user interface (GUI) of the remote input device based on the scrolling input;
• generate, with the remote input device, second signals based on the rotational input or the first signals;
• and
• transmit the second signals from the remote input device to the electronic device to enable the electronic device to perform one or more functions associated with one or more applications accessible on the electronic device.
