Autonomous-Vehicle Dispatch Based on Fleet-Level Target Objectives

A system comprising:

• one or more processors and one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media coupled to one or more of the processors, the one or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media comprising instructions operable when executed by one or more of the processors to cause the system to perform operations comprising:
• accessing fleet information associated with a fleet of autonomous vehicles;
• receiving, from a first autonomous vehicle in the fleet of autonomous vehicles, information associated with the first autonomous vehicle;
• identifying a target objective for the first autonomous vehicle based at least on the fleet information and the information associated with the first autonomous vehicle, wherein the target objective is unrelated to transporting passengers and has an associated target destination;
• computing a score based on vehicle condition data associated with the first autonomous vehicle;
• determining, based on the score, that the first autonomous vehicle is able to transport passengers while furthering the target objective;
• receiving a plurality of first ride requests from a plurality of first ride requestors, respectively, wherein each of the plurality of first ride requests is associated with a location;
• matching the first autonomous vehicle with a first ride request of the plurality of first ride requests based on a location of the first autonomous vehicle, the target destination of the target objective, and the location associated with the first ride request;
• and
• instructing the first autonomous vehicle (1) to perform a first transportation task to fulfill the first ride request, and (2) to drive to the target destination after completing the first transportation task.

One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software that is operable when executed to cause one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• accessing fleet information associated with a fleet of autonomous vehicles;
• receiving, from a first autonomous vehicle in the fleet of autonomous vehicles, information associated with the first autonomous vehicle;
• identifying a target objective for the first autonomous vehicle based at least on the fleet information and the information associated with the first autonomous vehicle, wherein the target objective is unrelated to transporting passengers and has an associated target destination;
• computing a score based on vehicle condition data associated with the first autonomous vehicle;
• determining, based on the score, that the first autonomous vehicle is able to transport passengers while furthering the target objective;
• receiving a plurality of first ride requests from a plurality of first ride requestors, respectively, wherein each of the plurality of first ride requests is associated with a location;
• matching the first autonomous vehicle with a first ride request of the plurality of first ride requests based on a location of the first autonomous vehicle, the target destination of the target objective, and the location associated with the first ride request;
• and
• instructing the first autonomous vehicle (1) to perform a first transportation task to fulfill the first ride request, and (2) to drive to the target destination after completing the first transportation task.
