Abstract
A riser system is provided to eliminate the consequences associated with damage to the annular system while also maintaining the availability of critical safety systems. The riser system may comprise a customizable control housing and external seal control subs that facilitate reciprocation and rotation of a drillpipe or workstring while eliminating damage to the upper annular blow out preventer and allowing the upper annular blow out preventer to function as intended.
Claims1
A method for installing a riser system, comprising:
- installing a riser adapter during riser Blow Out Preventer (BOP) system deployment;
- making up a custom polished bore receptacle (CPBR) running/pulling tool to a CPBR;
- deploying the CPBR on the CPBR running/pulling tool via a drillpipe or workstring;
- confirming a depth of the CPBR and setting the CPBR into riser adapter;
- releasing the CPBR running/pulling tool and retrieving the CPBR running/pulling tool from the well;
- deploying required bottom hole assemblies into the well;
- installing seal system subs spaced out as desired between joints of the drillpipe or workstring to achieved desired reciprocating lengths;
- performing bottom hole work as desired with pressure isolation as needed and all BOP systems in place to act as required;
- utilizing choke and kill systems as desired via communication through the CPBR;
- pulling out of hole and lay down drillpipe and workstring along with seal system subs utilized;
- pulling out of hole and lay down bottom hole assemblies;
- running in hole with the CPBR running/pulling tool and latch the CPBR;
- disengage the CPBR from riser adapter utilizing the CPBR running/pulling tool;
- pulling out of hole with the CPBR running/pulling tool and attached CPBR;
- and
- breaking out the riser adapter as required when retrieving the riser BOP system.
