Abstract
The invention provides for new polymer compounds and methods for the preparation of modular narrow band gap conjugated compounds and polymers that incorporate exocyclic cross-conjugated donors or substituents, as well as novel monomer components of such polymers and the resulting products which comprise materials and useful electronic devices with novel functionality.
Claims15
A method of synthesizing narrow band gap conjugated polymers, comprising use of at least one cross-conjugated donor, wherein the donor is an exocyclic cross-conjugated donor olefin substituent and wherein the polymer is comprised of an alternating electron-rich (donor) and electron-poor (acceptor) moiety, thereby permitting an internal charge transfer from the donor to the acceptor.
