Abstract
The present invention relates to novel substituted phenoxy- and benzyloxy-piperidine compounds of formula (I) having P2X7 receptor (P2X7) antagonistic properties, pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds, chemical processes for preparing these compounds and their use in the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases associated with P2X7 receptor activity in animals, in particular humans.

A compound of the following formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- including any stereochemically isomeric form thereof, wherein:
- n is 0 or 1;
- R1 is C1-C4 alkyl (optionally substituted with hydroxyl or halogen);
- each of R2, R3, and R4 is independently hydrogen, halogen, or the R2 and R4 groups, taken together, form a six membered heterocyclic ring containing a nitrogen atom, provided that at least one of R2, R3, and R4 is not hydrogen;
- each of R5 and R6 is hydrogen or halogen provided that at least one of R5 and R6 is halogen.
