Abstract
The invention relates to a method to increase production of itaconic acid in a micro-organism by inhibiting the expression or functioning of the enzyme itaconyl-CoA transferase, itaconyl-CoA hydratase (citramalyl-CoA hydrolyase; EC 4.2.1.56) and/or citramalyl-CoA lyase. Also embodied are micro-organisms, preferably Aspergillus s terreus or Aspergillus niger, in which said enzyme is inhibited.
Claims12
Method to increase production of itaconic acid in a micro-organism by inhibiting the expression or functioning of itaconyl-CoA transferase (EC 2.8.3.-) and/or itaconyl-CoA hydratase (citramalyl-CoA hydro-lyase;
- EC 4.2.1.56) and/or citramalyl CoA lyase (EC 4.1.3.25).
Micro-organism of the genus Aspergillus, more preferably A. terreus or A. niger, in which expression of the gene coding for the enzyme itaconyl-CoA transferase (EC 2.8.3.-), itaconyl-CoA hydratase (citramalyl-CoA hydro-lyase;
- EC 4.2.1.56) and/or citramalyl CoA lyase (EC 4.1.3.25) is inhibited.
