## Abstract

A system and method of processing information regarding medical devices in wireless communication with each other is provided in which a controller device has a first wireless communication link with a first medical device, such as an analyte sensor, and a second wireless communication link with a second medical device, such as a delivery device. A processor in the controller device monitors the status of the first and second wireless links and upon noting a degradation of either one, compares the first wireless link status with the second wireless link status and provides guidance for resolving a communication problem based on the comparison. The latency of the communicating medical devices is considered.

## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-21. (canceled)

### Claim 22

An apparatus comprising:
a processor;
a first transceiver coupled to the processor, the first transceiver configured to wirelessly communicate with a first medical device according to a first frequency; and
a second transceiver coupled to the processor, the second transceiver configured to wirelessly communicate with a second medical device according to a second frequency, wherein the second frequency is different from the first frequency, wherein the processor is configured to:
identify a wireless communication condition between the apparatus and at least one of the first medical device or the second medical device,
determine first information associated with the at least one of the first medical device or the second medical device based on the identified wireless communication condition, and
output second information based on the first information associated with the at least one of the first medical device or the second medical device.

### Claim 23 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to operate one of the first transceiver or the second transceiver in an idle mode if the identified wireless communication condition comprises information indicative that the apparatus is out of range of both the first medical device and the second medical device.

### Claim 24 (depends on 23)

The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the processor is further configured to monitor the wireless communication condition between the apparatus and both the first medical device and the second medical device if the apparatus is determined to be returned within range of the first medical device or the second medical device.

### Claim 25 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to output at least one of a visual alert or an audible alarm if the identified wireless communication condition comprises information indicative that the apparatus is out of range of both the first medical device and the second medical device.

### Claim 26 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to cease one or more alerts if the identified wireless communication condition comprises information indicative that the apparatus is out of range of both the first medical device and the second medical device.

### Claim 27 (depends on 23)

The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the processor is further configured to periodically check a status of the identified wireless communication condition.

### Claim 28 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the second information includes guidance for resolving the identified wireless communication condition.

### Claim 29 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to enter a sleep mode in which power consumption of the processor is reduced if the identified wireless communication condition comprises information indicative that the apparatus is out of range of both the first medical device and the second medical device.

### Claim 30 (depends on 22)

The apparatus of claim 22, wherein the processor is further configured to reduce a retry rate of the at least one of the first transceiver or the second transceiver associated with the identified wireless communication condition.
