## Abstract

A HARQ frame data structure and methods of transmitting and receiving with HARQ in systems using blind detection. In one embodiment, a method of transmitting over a channel using HARQ includes transmitting a first frame containing data toward a blind detection receiver, and transmitting a second frame containing at least a portion of the data and information about the first frame toward the blind detection receiver.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for wireless communication, comprising:
transmitting a first frame containing first data to a receiver; and
transmitting a second frame, the second frame containing at least a portion of the first data, the transmitting of the second frame being caused by receipt of a negative acknowledgement for the first frame before a timer expires.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
starting the timer upon transmission of the first frame.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the first frame has a first modulation and coding, and a header of the second frame has a second modulation and coding different from the first modulation and coding.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein a data field of the second frame has a third modulation and coding different from the second modulation and coding.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the second frame includes information that identifies the first frame.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the information that identifies the first frame includes an identifier of a pilot sequence included in the first frame.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the second frame includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC).

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the CRC includes a single CRC for a header and a data portion of the second frame.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the CRC includes a first CRC for a header of the second frame and a second CRC for a data portion of the second frame.

### Claim 10

A wireless device comprising:
a transmitter; and
a processor configured to:
transmit a first frame containing first data to a receiver; and
transmit a second frame, the second frame containing at least a portion of the first data, the transmitting of the second frame being caused by receipt of a negative acknowledgement for the first frame before a timer expires.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The wireless device of claim 10, the processor further configured to:
start the timer upon transmission of the first frame.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The wireless device of claim 10, wherein the first frame has a first modulation and coding, and a header of the second frame has a second modulation and coding different from the first modulation and coding.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The wireless device of claim 12, wherein a data field of the second frame has a third modulation and coding different from the second modulation and coding.

### Claim 14 (depends on 10)

The wireless device of claim 10, wherein the second frame includes information that identifies the first frame.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The wireless device of claim 14, wherein the information that identifies the first frame includes an identifier of a pilot sequence included in the first frame.

### Claim 16 (depends on 10)

The wireless device of claim 10, wherein the second frame includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC).

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The wireless device of claim 16, wherein the CRC includes a single CRC for a header and a data portion of the second frame.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

The wireless device of claim 16, wherein the CRC includes a first CRC for a header of the second frame and a second CRC for a data portion of the second frame.

### Claim 19

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a wireless device, cause the wireless device to perform operations, the operations comprising:
transmitting a first frame containing first data to a receiver; and
transmitting a second frame, the second frame containing at least a portion of the first data, the transmitting of the second frame being caused by receipt of a negative acknowledgement for the first frame before a timer expires.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, the operations further comprising:
starting the timer upon transmission of the first frame.
