## Abstract

This disclosure relates to systems and methods for recommending relevant positions. A method includes receiving, from a member of an online networking service, a query for one or more available employment positions; executing the query, at a database of employment positions, to retrieve the one or more available employment positions; filtering results of the query according to one or more facets; generating an electronic user interface to display the filtered results; and allowing the member to adjust the facets using the electronic user interface.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system comprising:
a machine-readable medium having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving a query from a member of an online networking service;
execute the query to retrieve one or more available employment positions as query results;
selecting, without user intervention, one or more facets to filter the query results;
filtering the query results according to the one or more facets;
causing, after the filtering, the filtered results to be displayed to the member in an electronic user interface; and
causing the user interface to allow the member to adjust facets applied to the query results.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise updating the results according to one or more facet adjustments made by the member.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the filtering comprises applying a coarse filter to the query results resulting in coarse results and applying a fine filter to the coarse results to generate the filtered results.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the facets are selected from a predetermined set of facets.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise applying a machine learning system to learn a set of facets to be used in the filtering.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the filtering comprises integrating facets in separate queries resulting in a set of results for each facet and filtering the query results according to a commonality of results for each of the facets.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise indexing each of the available employment positions according to a default set of fields.

### Claim 8

A method comprising:
receiving a query from a member of an online networking service;
execute the query to retrieve one or more available employment positions as query results;
selecting, without user intervention, one or more facets to filter the query results;
filtering the query results according to the one or more facets;
causing, after the filtering, the filtered results to be displayed to the member in an electronic user interface; and
causing the user interface to allow the member to adjust facets applied to the query results.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise updating the results according to one or more facet adjustments made by the member.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the filtering comprises applying a coarse filter to the query results resulting in coarse results and applying a fine filter to the coarse results to generate the filtered results.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the facets are selected from a predetermined set of facets.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprising applying a machine learning system to learn a set of facets to be used in the filtering.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the filtering comprises integrating facets in separate queries resulting in a set of results for each facet and filtering the query results according to a commonality of results for each of the facets.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, further comprise indexing each of the available employment positions according to a default set of fields.

### Claim 15

A machine-readable hardware medium having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform:
receiving a query from a member of an online networking service;
execute the query to retrieve one or more available employment positions as query results;
selecting, without user intervention, one or more facets to filter the query results;
filtering the query results according to the one or more facets;
causing, after the filtering, the filtered results to be displayed to the member in an electronic user interface; and
causing the user interface to allow the member to adjust facets applied to the query results

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the instructions further comprise updating the results according to one or more facet adjustments made by the member.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the filtering comprises applying a coarse filter to the query results resulting in coarse results and applying a fine filter to the coarse results to generate the filtered results.

### Claim 18 (depends on 15)

The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the facets are selected from a predetermined set of facets.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The machine-readable medium of claim 15, further comprising applying a machine learning system to learn a set of facets to be used in the filtering.

### Claim 20 (depends on 15)

The machine-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the filtering comprises integrating facets in separate queries resulting in a set of results for each facet and filtering the query results according to a commonality of results for each of the facets.
