## Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method of managing dedicated processing resources, a server system and a computer program product. The method may include receiving a request for the dedicated processing resources from an application having an assigned priority. The method may also include determining a total amount of resource to be occupied by the application based on the request. The method may further include, in response to the total amount of resource approximating or exceeding a predetermined quota associated with the priority, assigning, from the dedicated processing resources, a first amount of dedicated processing resources to the application. Besides, the method may include, in response to the application completing an operation associated with the request using the assigned dedicated processing resources, causing the application to sleep for a time period.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of managing dedicated processing resources, comprising:
receiving a request for the dedicated processing resources from an application with an assigned priority;
determining, based on the request, a total amount of resources to be occupied by the application;
in response to the total amount of resources approximating or exceeding a predetermined quota associated with the priority, allocating a first amount of dedicated processing resources from the dedicated processing resources to the application; and
in response to the application completing an operation associated with the request using the allocated dedicated processing resources, causing the application to sleep for a time period.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein a length of the time period is positively correlated with a difference of the total amount of resources exceeding the predetermined quota.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein causing the application to sleep for a time period comprises:
in response to receiving a next request for the dedicated processing resources from the application, causing the application to sleep.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
detecting utilization of the dedicated processing resources; and
in response to the utilization exceeding a predetermined threshold, sending a signal to the application to instruct the application to defer sending of a next request for the dedicated processing resources.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, further comprising:
receiving an indication of the predetermined quota from the application.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the priority is associated with a service level agreement for the application.

### Claim 7

A server system, comprising:
dedicated processing resources; and
a controller configured to:
receive a request for the dedicated processing resources from an application with an assigned priority,
determine, based on the request, a total amount of resources to be occupied by the application,
in response to the total amount of resource approximating or exceeding a predetermined quota associated with the priority, allocate a first amount of dedicated processing resources from the dedicated processing resources to the application, and
in response to the application completing an operation associated with the request using the allocated dedicated processing resources, cause the application to sleep for a time period.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The server system according to claim 7, wherein a length of the time period is positively correlated with a difference of the total amount of resources exceeding the predetermined quota.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The server system according to claim 7, wherein the controller is configured to:
in response to receiving a next request for the dedicated processing resources from the application, cause the application to sleep.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The server system according to claim 7, wherein the controller is further configured to:
detect utilization of the dedicated processing resources; and
in response to the utilization exceeding a predetermined threshold, send a signal to the application to instruct the application to defer sending of a next request for the dedicated processing resources.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The server system according to claim 7, wherein the controller is further configured to:
receive an indication of the predetermined quota from the application.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The server system according to claim 7, wherein the priority is associated with a service level agreement for the application.

### Claim 13

A computer program product being tangibly stored on a nonvolatile computer-readable medium and comprising machine-executable instructions which, when executed, cause a machine to perform a method of managing dedicated processing resources, the method comprising:
receiving a request for the dedicated processing resources from an application with an assigned priority;
determining, based on the request, a total amount of resources to be occupied by the application;
in response to the total amount of resources approximating or exceeding a predetermined quota associated with the priority, allocating a first amount of dedicated processing resource from the dedicated processing resources to the application; and
in response to the application completing an operation associated with the request using the allocated dedicated processing resources, causing the application to sleep for a time period.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The computer program product according to claim 13, wherein a length of the time period is positively correlated with a difference of the total amount of resources exceeding the predetermined quota.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The computer program product according to claim 13, wherein causing the application to sleep for a time period comprises:
in response to receiving a next request for the dedicated processing resources from the application, causing the application to sleep.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The computer program product according to claim 13, wherein the method further comprises:
detecting utilization of the dedicated processing resources; and
in response to the utilization exceeding a predetermined threshold, sending a signal to the application to instruct the application to defer sending of a next request for the dedicated processing resources.
