## Abstract

A battlefield illumination module having a light source for a handgun, a handgun with an appropriate battlefield illumination module and a holster for accommodating an appropriate handgun, wherein the light source includes a primary light source which is designed to be extendable from a rest position to a working position.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A holster for accommodating a handgun comprising:
a cavity configured for receiving a barrel of a handgun and an illumination module attached in an area of the barrel of the handgun, the illumination module having a light source positioned in a rest position configured such that the illumination module has a low profile to fit in the holster;
an electrical contact, fixed to the cavity, having a positive terminal and a negative terminal configured for conducting a charging current to the illumination module of the handgun.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The holster of claim 1, wherein the electrical contact is configured for conducting the charging current by inductance.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The holster of claim 1, further comprising an energy source for supplying the charging current to the electrical contact.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The holster of claim 3, wherein the energy source comprises a battery.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The holster of claim 3, wherein the energy source is within an external recess of the holster.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

A handgun illumination system comprising:
the holster of claim 1;
the illumination module configured for mechanically linking to the handgun;
the light source configured to be moveable from the rest position to a working position;
the working position configured such that the light source illuminates an area ahead of the barrel.

### Claim 7

A handgun illumination system comprising:
an illumination module configured for mechanically linking to a handgun in an area below a barrel of the handgun; and
a holster having:
a cavity configured for accepting the illumination module;
an electrical contact fixed to the cavity for conducting a charging current to the illumination module;
an energy source for supplying the charging current to the illumination module using the electrical contact.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The handgun illumination system of claim 7, wherein the illumination module comprises:
a light source configured to be moveable from a rest position to a working position;
the rest position configured such that the light source has a low profile to fit in the holster; and
the working position configured such that the light source illuminates an area ahead of the barrel.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The handgun illumination system of claim 7, wherein the energy source is contained within a recess of the holster.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The handgun illumination system of claim 9, wherein the recess is within an outer surface of the holster.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The handgun illumination system of claim 7, wherein the energy source is worn, by a user, separate from the holster.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The handgun illumination system of claim 7, wherein the holster encloses the illumination module when the handgun is holstered.

### Claim 13 (depends on 7)

The handgun illumination system of claim 7, wherein the illumination module is mechanically linked to a fixing facility on the handgun.

### Claim 14

A holster comprising:
a cavity configured for receiving a barrel of a handgun and an illumination module;
an electrical contact having a positive terminal and a negative terminal for conducting a charging current from an energy source contained within the holster to a current receiver of the illumination module; and
the current receiver being connected to the electrical contact to charge the illumination module when then handgun is placed in the holster.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

A handgun illumination system comprising:
the holster of claim 14; and
an illumination module configured for mechanically linking to a handgun, the illumination module having:
a light source having a front surface which is configured to be moveable from a rest position to a working position;
the front surface in the rest position being substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the barrel of the handgun; and
the front surface in the working position illuminating an area ahead of the barrel.
