## Abstract

A liquid treatment device that can improve liquid treatment performance by taking advantage of the Fenton's reaction while efficiently generating plasma for liquid treatment, in addition to enabling stable plasma generation for extended time periods includes a first electrode that is rod-like in shape; a second electrode that is plate-like in shape and is configured from a metal containing copper or iron; and a treatment vessel in which introduced liquid swirls, and generates a gas phase in a swirl flow of the liquid. A plasma is generated by applying a pulse voltage to the generated gas phase, and a negative DC voltage is applied between the first electrode and the second electrode serving as a cathode and an anode, respectively. Under the applied negative voltage, the plate-like second electrode generates copper ions or iron ions, and the copper or iron ions undergo Fenton's reaction with the hydrogen peroxide generated by the plasma so that liquid can be efficiently treated.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A liquid treatment device comprising:
a treatment vessel that is cylindrical in shape and having a circular cross section and a closed end;
a first electrode that is rod-like in shape and disposed at a first end on a central axis of the treatment vessel;
a second electrode made of a metal containing copper or iron and disposed at a second end of the treatment vessel;
a pulse power supply that applies a positive pulse voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode with the first electrode serving as an anode;
a DC power supply that applies a negative voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode with the second electrode serving as an anode; and
a liquid inlet through which liquid is introduced in a tangential direction of the circular cylindrical shape of the treatment vessel, and that causes the liquid to swirl in the treatment vessel and generate a gas phase in a swirl flow of the liquid.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The liquid treatment device according to claim 1, further comprising:
a hydrogen peroxide concentration meter connected to a second end side of the treatment vessel, and that measures a hydrogen peroxide concentration in a liquid to be treated inside a reservoir that stores a liquid treated in the treatment vessel and ejected into the reservoir;
a metal ion concentration meter that measures a metal ion concentration in the liquid to be treated inside the reservoir; and
a control unit that, according to measured values from the hydrogen peroxide concentration meter and the metal ion concentration meter, controls an operating frequency of the pulse power supply, and the voltage applied by the DC power supply.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The liquid treatment device according to claim 1, wherein the pulse voltage applied by the pulse power supply has a pulse width of more than 100 ns and less than 3 μs.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The liquid treatment device according to claim 2, wherein the pulse voltage applied by the pulse power supply has a pulse width of more than 100 ns and less than 3 μs.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The liquid treatment device according to claim 1, wherein the first electrode is rod-like in shape, and the second electrode is plate-like in shape.
