## Abstract

Compounds for use in the treatment of sepsis and/or the prevention or treatment of post-sepsis syndrome.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A pharmaceutical composition comprising a fatty acid of at least C11 comprising a double bond between C10 and C11 and at least one of an adjuvant, a preservative, and a stabiliser.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid is from C11 to C24.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid comprises only one double bond.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid is C16.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid is 10(Z)-hexadecenoic acid.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, wherein the fatty acid is an ester of 1,2,3-propanetriol with one or more fatty acids of at least C11, wherein at least one fatty acid has a double bond at the C10-C11 position.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, formulated as an injectable liquid.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, formulated in a sterile freeze-dried form that is reconstituted prior to use.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1, formulated as sterile slow-release pellets.

### Claim 10

A method of treating sepsis and/or preventing or treating post-sepsis syndrome comprising administration of an effective amount of a fatty acid of at least C11 comprising a double bond between C10 and C11 to a patient in need of such treatment.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid is from C11 to C24.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid comprises only one double bond.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid is C16.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the fatty acid is 10(Z)-hexadecenoic acid.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid is an ester of 1,2,3-propanetriol with one or more fatty acids of at least C11, wherein at least one fatty acid has a double bond at the C10-C11 position.

### Claim 16 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, further comprising the separate, sequential, or simultaneous administration of an antibacterial, anti-fungal, or anti-viral molecule known to eradicate the infective agent causing sepsis.

### Claim 17 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid molecule is administered via the parenteral route or the enteral route.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, wherein the parenteral route is selected from subcutaneous, intradermal, subdermal, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and intravesicular injection.

### Claim 19 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the fatty acid molecule is administered via intravenous injection.

### Claim 20 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the fatty acid molecule is administered via the intratracheal route.
