## Claims

### Claim at position 1

1-18. (canceled)

### Claim 19

A method for notifying a user about an alarm condition without causing interruption to a predetermined routine, the method comprising:
executing a concurrent passive notification routine on a receiver unit, the concurrent passive notification routine comprising monitoring analyte levels received from a sensor;
detecting the alarm condition based on the monitored analyte levels during execution of the predetermined routine, wherein the predetermined routine comprises one or more processes that interface with a user interface of the receiver unit;
in response to detecting the alarm condition, outputting to the user interface a first indication associated with the alarm condition, wherein the first indication is outputted during the execution of and without interruption to the predetermined routine; and
after completion of the predetermined routine, outputting to the user interface a second indication for the alarm condition associated with the first indication.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the first indication includes one or more of a visual, audible, or vibratory indicator.

### Claim 21 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the second indication includes one or more of a visual, audible, or vibratory indicator.

### Claim 22 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the first indication includes a temporary indicator, and further, wherein the second indication includes a predetermined alarm associated with the detected alarm condition.

### Claim 23 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the first indication is active during the execution of the predetermined routine, and is inactive at the end of the predetermined routine.

### Claim 24 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the second indication is active at the end of the predetermined routine.

### Claim 25 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein each of the first indication and the second indication includes one or more of a visual text notification alert, a backlight indicator, a graphical notification, an audible notification, or a vibratory notification.

### Claim 26 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein the predetermined routine is executed to completion without interruption.

### Claim 27 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19, wherein when the alarm condition is detected during the execution of the predetermined routine, the first indication is output as a temporary alarm notification that does not disrupt the predetermined routine.

### Claim 28

A receiver unit for notifying a user about an alarm condition without causing interruption to a predetermined routine, the receiver unit comprising:
a user interface; and
a processor configured to:
execute a concurrent passive notification routine on the receiver unit to monitor analyte levels received from a sensor; and
detect the alarm condition based on the monitored analyte levels during execution of the predetermined routine, wherein the predetermined routine comprises one or more processes that interface with the user interface of the receiver unit;
wherein the processor is further configured to, in response to detecting the alarm condition, output to the user interface a first indication associated with the alarm condition during the execution of and without interruption to the predetermined routine, and
wherein the processor is further configured to, after completion of the predetermined routine, output to the user interface a second indication for the alarm condition associated with the first indication.

### Claim 29 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the first indication includes one or more of a visual, audible, or vibratory indicator.

### Claim 30 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the second indication includes one or more of a visual, audible, or vibratory indicator.

### Claim 31 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the first indication includes a temporary indicator, and further, wherein the second indication includes a predetermined alarm associated with the detected alarm condition.

### Claim 32 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the first indication is output to the user interface during the execution of the predetermined routine, and is not output to the user interface at or subsequent to the end of the predetermined routine.

### Claim 33 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the second indication is active at the end of the predetermined routine.

### Claim 34 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein each of the first indication and the second indication includes one or more of a visual text notification alert, a backlight indicator, a graphical notification, an audible notification, or a vibratory notification, configured to output to the user interface.

### Claim 35 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the predetermined routine is executed to completion without interruption.

### Claim 36 (depends on 28)

The receiver unit of claim 28, wherein the processor is configured such that when the alarm condition is detected during the execution of the predetermined routine, the first indication is output as a temporary alarm notification that does not disrupt the predetermined routine.
