System for smart spoilage alerts

A computer-implemented method comprising:

• receiving, by an electronic device, first sensor information associated with a food item;
• determining, by the electronic device, that the first sensor information verifies a first consumption event associated with a quantity of the food item being consumed;
• determining, based at least in part on the first consumption event, that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed;
• presenting, on a display associated with the electronic device, a notification that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed;
• receiving, by the electronic device, second sensor information associated with the food item;
• and
• determining that the second sensor information verifies an occurrence of a second consumption event associated with an additional quantity of the food item being consumed,
• wherein determining that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed is further based at least in part on the second consumption event.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having thereon at set of instructions, which if performed by a computer, cause the computer to:

• receive first sensor information associated with a food item;
• determine that the first sensor information verifies a first consumption event associated with a quantity of the food item being consumed;
• determine, based at least in part on the first consumption event, that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed;
• present, on a display associated with an electronic device, a notification that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed;
• receive second sensor information associated with the food item;
• and
• determine that the second sensor information verifies an occurrence of a second consumption event associated with an additional quantity of the food item being consumed,
• wherein determine that the food item is going to expire before the food item is fully consumed is further based at least in part on the second consumption event.
