Image generating apparatus and image generating method

An image generating method by image generating apparatus, the image generating method generating an image enabling stereoscopic viewing of an object by using a pair of original images acquired from different points of view on right and left sides, the image generating method comprising:

• acquiring information relating to a point of view of a user;
• generating a vector map in which a reference vector, with which reference to a position before displacement in the original image from a pixel center position after the displacement is carried out, is derived for each pixel on an image plane by calculating the displacement of each pixel in the original image according to movement of the point of view of a user in such a manner that the object is fixed in a virtual space with respect to the movement of the point of view, and fills the reference vector hole of a pixel at which the reference vector is not set due to the displacement by interpolating the reference vectors of surrounding pixels;
• deciding, based on the reference vector composed from reference vectors at pixel center positions on the vector map defined on the center of respective pixel of the displayed image, a color value of the pixel by referring to color values around the referenced position on the original image;
• and
• outputting data of the displayed image.

A non-transitory, computer readable storage medium containing a computer program, which when executed by a computer, causes the computer to generate an image enabling stereoscopic viewing of an object by using a pair of original images acquired from different points of view on right and left sides by carrying out actions, comprising:

• acquiring information relating to a point of view of a user;
• generating a vector map in which a reference vector, with which reference to a position before displacement in the original image from a pixel center position after the displacement is carried out, is derived for each pixel on an image plane by calculating the displacement of each pixel in the original image according to movement of the point of view of a user in such a manner that the object is fixed in a virtual space with respect to the movement of the point of view, and fills the reference vector hole of a pixel at which the reference vector is not set due to the displacement by interpolating the reference vectors of surrounding pixels;
• deciding, based on the reference vector composed from reference vectors at pixel center positions on the vector map defined on the center of respective pixel of the displayed image, a color value of the pixel by referring to color values around the referenced position on the original image;
• and
• outputting data of the displayed image.
