Assistance for gift purchasing

A system for coordinating and assisting gift collaboration, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory communicatively coupled to the one or more processors,
• wherein the memory comprises instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising the steps of:
• scanning user data for upcoming events;
• identifying a potential gift giving event from the upcoming events using contextual information about the upcoming events to determine the nature of the upcoming events;
• identifying a plurality of attendees of the potential gift giving event;
• analyzing information about two or more of the plurality of attendees of the potential gift giving event;
• grouping a plurality of people into a group of potential gift collaborators composed of a plurality of group members, wherein the plurality of people is chosen from the plurality of attendees based upon the information of the plurality of attendees;
• generating a first potential gift list;
• analyzing a gift giving ability of each of the group members;
• selecting, based at least in part upon the gift giving ability of each of the group members, a gift giver chosen from the plurality of group members;
• generating a second potential gift list with detailed information about one or more potential gifts on the second potential gift list wherein the one or more potential gifts on the second potential gift list are based at least in part on the first potential gift list;
• and
• providing at least a portion of the second potential gift list to the selected gift giver, wherein the portion of the second potential gift list includes at least one gift idea.

A computer program product for coordinating and assisting gift collaboration, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, wherein the computer readable storage medium is not a transitory signal per se, the program instructions executable by a computer to perform a method comprising the steps of:

• scanning, by a computer, user data for upcoming events;
• identifying, by the computer, a potential gift giving event from the upcoming events using contextual information about the upcoming events to determine the nature of the upcoming events;
• identifying, by the computer, a plurality of attendees of the potential gift giving event;
• analyzing, by the computer, information about two or more of the plurality of attendees of the potential gift giving event;
• grouping, by the computer, a plurality of people into a group of potential gift collaborators composed of a plurality of group members, wherein the plurality of people is chosen from the plurality of attendees based upon the information of the plurality of attendees;
• generating, by the computer, a first potential gift list;
• analyzing, by the computer, a gift giving ability of each of the group members;
• selecting, by the computer and based at least in part upon the gift giving ability of each of the group members, a gift giver chosen from the plurality of group members;
• generating, by the computer, a second potential gift list with detailed information about one or more potential gifts on the second potential gift list wherein the one or more potential gifts on the second potential gift list are based at least in part on the first potential gift list;
• and
• providing, by the computer, at least a portion of the second potential gift list to the selected gift giver, wherein the portion of the second potential gift list includes at least one gift idea.
