Systems and methods for managing merchandising card reminders

A system for managing a merchandising card reminder, the system comprising:

• one or more memory devices storing instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute instructions to:
• acquire, from a device over a network, a plurality of device locations associated with the device at different instances in time;
• determine a geofence associated with a merchant location, the merchant location being associated with a first merchant and the geofence being defined by an area bounded by a plurality of geographic points;
• determine a first merchant confidence rating based on whether a predetermined number or percentage of the device locations are within the geofence;
• determine whether the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold;
• and
• if the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold:
• acquire a merchant identifier associated with the merchant location;
• acquire a plurality of available merchant identifiers from the financial service provider;
• determine whether the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers, the first and available merchant identifiers being associated with a merchandising card of the user of the device;
• and
• if the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers:
• send a notification to the user of the device indicating that the user is a holder of the merchandising card, the notification including an image representative of the merchandising card;
• acquire an activation request from the user, the activation request generated in response to the user interacting with the notification;
• and
• prepare the merchandising card for use at the merchant location.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, perform a method for managing a merchandising card reminder, the method comprising:

• acquiring, from a device over a network, a plurality of device locations associated with the device at different instances in time;
• calculating a first merchant confidence rating by:
• determining a geofence associated with a merchant location, the merchant location being associated with a first merchant and the geofence being defined by an area bounded by a plurality of geographic points;
• and
• determining the first merchant confidence rating based on whether a predetermined number or percentage of the device locations are within the geofence for a predetermined period of time;
• determining whether the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold;
• and
• in response to determining that the first merchant confidence rating is greater than or equal to a first threshold:
• acquiring a first merchant identifier associated with the merchant location;
• acquiring a plurality of available merchant identifiers from the financial service provider;
• determining whether the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers, the first and available merchant identifiers being associated with a merchandising card;
• and
• in response to determining that the first merchant identifier matches a second merchant identifier in the available merchant identifiers:
• sending a notification to the user of the device, the notification comprising a message indicating that the user is a holder of the merchandising card, the notification including an image representative of the merchandising card;
• acquiring an activation request from the user, the activation request generated in response to the user interacting with the notification;
• and
• preparing the merchandising card for use at the merchant location.
