Abstract
Systems, apparatuses, and methods include an intraocular lens (IOL) cart that may assist with inventory management and may help users identify an IOL for use in a particular surgical application. The IOL cart may include sensors and indicators that provide information to a user and may update IOL inventory automatically whenever the IOL cart is accessed by a user.
Claims19
An intraocular lens (IOL) cart comprising:
- a housing containing a plurality of IOL packages;
- one or more sensors configured to detect a parameter associated with each IOL package in the housing;
- a computer unit communicatively coupled with the base housing and configured to receive, from the one or more sensors, information relating to the parameter of individual IOL packages disposed in the housing;
- and
- a plurality of visual indicators actuatable by the computer unit;
- wherein the computer unit is configured to receive a request from a user relating to a desired IOL parameter, compare the parameters detected by the one or more sensors to the received request related to a desired IOL, select an IOL package with a parameter closest to a desired IOL parameter and an alternative IOL package, and cause multiple visual indicators to actuate adjacent to multiple IOL packages with parameters closest to the desired IOL parameter and the alternative IOL.

An intraocular lens (IOL) package inventory system comprising:
- a plurality of sensors configured to read information relating to an IOL in an IOL package and detect its storage location within an IOL cart, the information including a parameter of the IOL;
- a phacoemulsification system comprising a display screen;
- and
- a computer unit in communication with the plurality of sensors and the phacoemulsification system, the computer unit being configured to store information relating to each IOL, its location in the IOL cart, and the parameter of each IOL,
- the computer unit being arranged to:
- receive a request from a user via the display screen relating to a desired IOL, compare the stored information relating to the parameter of each IOL to the received request related to a desired IOL, select multiple IOL package with a parameter closest to a desired IOL power and an alternative IOL package, and display the stored information relating to the storage location within the IOL cart and the parameters for the IOL package with the parameter closest to the desired IOL and for the alternative IOL package on the display screen.

An intraocular lens (IOL) cart, comprising:
- a housing configured to hold a plurality of IOL packages, each IOL package having an IOL with an associated parameter;
- and
- a computer unit for tracking an inventory of the plurality of IOL packages, the computer unit configured to:
- receive IOL parameter information from a sensor relating to individual IOL packages;
- store the parameter information associated with each IOL and a location of the IOL package for each IOL in an IOL cart;
- receive a request from a user relating to a desired IOL;
- compare the stored parameter information to the received request to identify an IOL in the inventory most closely matching the desired IOL and an alternative IOL in the inventory;
- and
- actuate a visual indicator adjacent the identified IOLs.
