Method and system for providing domain-specific response to a user query

A response generation system (101) for providing domain-specific response (112) to a user query (104), the response generation system (101) comprising:

• a processor (203);
• and
• a memory (205), communicatively coupled to the processor (203), wherein the memory (205) stores processor-executable instructions, which on execution, cause the processor (203) to:
• split the user query (104) into one or more sub-queries (106);
• determine domain of each of the one or more sub-queries (106) based on one or more domain-specific keywords present in each of the one or more sub-queries (106);
• retrieve one or more responses (110) to each of the one or more sub-queries (106) from one or more Domain-specific Query Handlers (DQHs), associated with the response generation system (101), based on the domain, wherein the domain-specific query handlers are hierarchically arranged;
• and
• collate the one or more responses (110) received from the one or more DQHs (109) to provide the domain-specific response (112) to the user query (104).

A non-transitory computer readable medium including instructions stored thereon that, when processed by at least one processor (203) cause a response generation system (101) to perform operations comprising:

• splitting the user query (104) into one or more sub-queries (106);
• determining domain of each of the one or more sub-queries (106) based on one or more domain-specific keywords present in each of the one or more sub-queries (106);
• retrieving one or more responses (110) to each of the one or more sub-queries (106) from one or more Domain-specific Query Handlers (DQHs), associated with the response generation system (101), based on the domain, wherein the domain-specific query handlers are hierarchically arranged;
• and
• collating the one or more responses (110) received from the one or more DQHs (109) for providing the domain-specific response (112) to the user query (104).
