Abstract
A method including receiving, by a storage device, a write request, the write request associated with an amount of data sized in dependence upon information describing a layout of memory in the storage device. The method may also include writing, by the storage device, the data to a memory unit, the data written to a location within the memory unit in dependence upon the information.
Claims18
A method, comprising:
- receiving, by a storage device, a write request from a storage array controller, the write request associated with an amount of data sized in dependence upon information describing a layout of memory in the storage device;
- and
- writing, by the storage device, the data to a memory unit, the data written to a location within the memory unit in dependence upon the information.
The method of claim I wherein the information describing the layout of memory in the storage device includes information describing a size of an erasable memory unit in the storage device.
A storage device, comprising:
- a controller to:
- receive a write request from the storage array controller, the write request associated with an amount of data sized in dependence upon information describing a layout of memory in the storage device;
- and
- write the data to a memory unit, the data written to a location within the memory unit in dependence upon the information.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that when executed by a controller of a storage device cause the controller to:
- receive, by the controller, a write request from the array controller, the write request associated with an amount of data sized in dependence upon information about memory in the storage device;
- and
- write, by the controller, the data to a memory unit, the data written to a location within the memory unit in dependence upon the information.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
