Transformation of data object based on context

A system comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory, operatively connected with the at least one processor, storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to execute a method that comprises:
• receiving, through a user interface of a productivity service, a drag and drop that drags a data object onto a content portion of a digital document;
• determining a context for the drag and drop based on semantic analysis that comprises evaluation of:
• data associated with the content portion, data associated with the data object and relationships between the content portion and the data object;
• generating, based on the determined context of the drag and drop, a composite data object that comprises the content portion and a representation of the data object, wherein the representation of the data object alters presentation of the data object, and wherein the generating of the representation of the data object comprises:
• selecting specific content of the data object to surface in the representation of the composite data object based on the determined context,
• selecting a formatting and a layout for the specific content in the representation of the data object based on the determined context,
• generating the representation of the data object based on a selection of the specific content and a selection of the formatting and layout of the specific content, and
• merging the representation of the data object with the content portion;
• and
• surfacing, through the user interface of the productivity service, the composite data object.

A computer-readable storage medium storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to execute a method comprising:

• receiving, through a user interface of a productivity service, a drag and drop that drags a data object onto a content portion of a digital document;
• determining a context for the drag and drop based on semantic analysis that comprises evaluation of:
• data associated with the content portion, data associated with the data object and relationships between the content portion and the data object;
• generating, based on the determined context of the drag and drop, a composite data object that comprises the content portion and a representation of the data object, wherein the representation of the data object alters presentation of the data object, and wherein the generating of the representation of the data object comprises:
• selecting specific content of the data object to surface in the representation of the composite data object based on the determined context,
• selecting a formatting and a layout for the specific content in the representation of the data object based on the determined context,
• generating the representation of the data object based on a selection of the specific content and a selection of the formatting and layout of the specific content, and
• merging the representation of the data object with the content portion;
• and
• surfacing, through the user interface of the productivity service, the composite data object.
