Frequency hop based positioning measurement

A wireless communication device, comprising:

• a radio interface for connecting to a wireless communication network;
• and
• at least one processor,
• the at least one processor being configured to:
• configure a frequency hop pattern to be applied for switching a radio interface (110) of the wireless communication device (100) between multiple different frequency ranges to receive or send positioning reference signals (10) on multiple different frequencies defined by the frequency hop pattern,
• wherein at least some of the multiple different frequencies are separated by more than a maximum bandwidth supported by the radio interface of the wireless communication device.

A base station for a wireless communication network, the base station comprising:

• a radio interface for connecting to a wireless communication device;
• a network interface for connecting to further base stations of the wireless communication network;
• and
• at least one processor,
• the at least one processor being configured to:
• configure a frequency hop pattern to be applied for switching a radio interface of the wireless communication device between multiple different frequency ranges to receive or send positioning reference signals on multiple different frequencies defined by the frequency hop pattern;
• wherein at least some of the multiple different frequencies are separated by more than a maximum bandwidth supported by the radio interface of the wireless communication device.
