Abstract
In accordance with an example embodiment, an apparatus comprises at least one receiver configured to receive a grid corresponding to an area, at least one processor configured to assign at least one access point in the area to at least one node in the grid, and the at least one processor configured to select a predetermined number of access points assigned to the at least one node for inclusion in a partial radio map.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a collection unit configured to collect at least one measurement for a position of the apparatus;
- a processor configured to send a request based on the at least one measurement to a server and receive, in response to the request, a partial radio map including access points in a geographic area, wherein the partial radio map maintains spatial coverage of the geographic area;
- and
- a memory configured to store the partial radio map received in response to the request, wherein the partial radio map is accessed for positioning from subsequent measurements for the apparatus.
A method for determining a position of a mobile device, the method comprising:
- collecting at least one measurement for a position of the apparatus;
- sending a request based on the at least one measurement to a server;
- receiving, in response to the request, a partial radio map including access points in a geographic area, wherein the partial radio map maintains spatial coverage of the geographic area;
- and
- storing the partial radio map received in response to the request.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium encoded with instructions that, when executed by a computer, perform:
- identifying at least one measurement for a position of the apparatus;
- generating a request based on the at least one measurement to a server;
- and
- receiving, in response to the request, a partial radio map including access points in a geographic area, wherein the partial radio map maintains spatial coverage of the geographic area.
