Abstract
A lighting device assembly includes: a heat sink; a light source attached to one end of the heat sink; and an optic assembly including an optic having a recess to receive at least a portion of the light source, the optic being configured to pivot about the light source while the portion of the light source remains within the recess.

A lighting device comprising:
- a light source;
- an optic device arranged to pass at least some light from the light source;
- and
- an optic assembly configured to pivot about the light source, the optic assembly including a holding member having an interior volume in which the optic device is contained;
- a housing member having a first curved surface defining a cavity configured to receive at least a portion of the holding member,
- wherein the holding member has an outer surface having a curvature that corresponds to and slideably engages with the first curved surface, when at least the portion of the holding member is received in the cavity.
The outer surface of the holding member and the first curved surface of the housing member are engaged in a ball and socket arrangement to allow pivotal movement of the holding member relative to the housing member about a plurality of different axis, and up to 360°, when at least the portion of the holding member is received in the cavity.
A lighting device comprising:
- a light source;
- an optic device arranged to pass at least some light from the light source;
- and
- an optic assembly configured to pivot about the light source, the optic assembly including a holding member that holds an optic device;
- a housing member having a first curved surface defining a cavity configured to receive at least a portion of the holding member;
- a further member having a second curved surface;
- wherein the holding member has an outer surface having a curvature that corresponds to and slideably engages with the first curved surface and the second curved surface, when at least the portion of the holding member is received in the cavity.
A method of making a lighting device, the method comprising:
- a light source;
- arranging an optic device relative to a light source to pass at least some light from the light source through the optic device;
- and
- supporting an optic assembly for pivotal motion about the light source, the optic assembly, the optic assembly including a holding member having an interior volume in which the optic device is contained;
- receiving at least a portion of the holding member in a cavity defined by a first curved surface of a housing member;
- slideably engaging a curved outer surface of the holding member with the first curved surface of the housing member, when at least the portion of the holding member is received in the cavity.
