Abstract
Downhole tools, methods, and systems related thereto. An example downhole tool includes a body comprising a degradable core and a chelating agent or a chelating agent/scale inhibitor mixture integrated therein. The chelating agent and scale inhibitors help to direct and control the degradation of the degradable core.
Claims20
A downhole tool comprising:
- i) a body comprising a degradable core;
- and
- ii) an anhydrous, partially hydrated, fully hydrated, or solid chelating agent integrated into the downhole tool;
- wherein upon degradation of the degradable core, the integrated chelating agent reduces consolidation of one or more degradation products of the degradable core.

A method comprising:
- installing a downhole tool in a wellbore, the downhole tool comprising:
- i) a body comprising a degradable core;
- and
- ii) an anhydrous, partially hydrated, fully hydrated, or solid chelating agent integrated into the downhole tool;
- fluidly sealing two sections of the wellbore with the downhole tool;
- performing a downhole operation;
- exposing at least a portion of the degradable core to an aqueous fluid in the wellbore environment;
- and
- hydrolytically degrading at least a portion of the degradable core in the wellbore environment, wherein upon the integrated chelating agent reduces consolidation of one or more degradation products of the degradable core.
