Abstract
A robotic pool cleaner including: a housing; a propulsion mechanism configured to propel the robotic pool cleaner along an interior surface of a pool and a suction mechanism to draw liquid from the pool into the housing. A cable extends outward from the housing and a pull sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of at least a direction in which the cable is pulled. A controller is configured to receive the signal and to operate the propulsion mechanism to propel the robot in accordance with the received signal.

A robotic pool cleaner comprising:
- a housing;
- a propulsion mechanism configured to propel the robotic pool cleaner along an interior surface of a pool;
- a suction mechanism to draw liquid from the pool into the housing;
- a cable that extends outward from the housing;
- a pull sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of at least a direction in which the cable is pulled;
- and
- a controller configured to receive the signal and to operate the propulsion mechanism to propel the robot in accordance with the received signal.
A robotic pool cleaner comprising:
- a housing;
- a propulsion mechanism configured to propel the robotic pool cleaner along an interior surface of a pool;
- a suction mechanism for drawing liquid from the pool into the housing;
- a motion sensor that is configured to generate a signal indicative of movement of the robotic pool cleaner;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- control the propulsion mechanism to cause the robotic pool cleaner to stand stationary in a standby mode upon completion of a cleaning cycle;
- receive the signal from the motion sensor;
- and
- when the received signal is indicative of motion of the robotic pool cleaner while in the standby mode, operate the propulsion mechanism to propel the robotic pool cleaner to a wall of the pool and to climb the wall to a waterline of the pool.
