Abstract
The present invention provides a novel glyceroglycolipid produced by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. The glyceroglycolipid can be used as a diagnostic marker for a disease caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
Claims4
A method for producing an isolated monoclonal antibody specifically binding to a glycolipid antigen of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, comprising:
- (a) immunizing a mammal with a glycolipid antigen to produce an antibody-producing cell, wherein the glycolipid antigen is:
- (i) an isolated compound represented by the following general formula or a salt thereof:
- wherein R1=OH, R2=H and R3 is —(CH2)nCH3, wherein n is 12, 14, 16 or 18, or
- (ii) an isolated compound represented by the following general formula or a salt thereof:
- wherein R1=H and R2=OH and R3 is (CH2)nCH3, wherein n is 12, 14, 16 or 18;
- (b) fusing a myeloma cell with the antibody-producing cell to produce a hybridoma cell line;
- (c) culturing the hybridoma cell line that produces a monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to the glycolipid antigen, wherein said specific binding of the monoclonal antibody to the glycolipid antigen is verifiable by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using the glycolipid antigen;
- and
- (d) isolating the monoclonal antibody produced by the hybridoma cell line.
