Compositions and methods for preventing, treating or ameliorating a condition or disorder of the eye or area surrounding the eye are disclosed and described.

A topical ophthalmic gel composition comprising 0.1%-10% w/w povidone-iodine;
- greater than about 30% w/w DMSO;
- about 0.05% to about 1.5% w/w steroid;
- and a gelling agent.
A method for treating an infectious or inflammatory eye condition, said method comprising administering to the eye an effective amount of a composition of clam 1.
