Abstract
Biodegradable copolymers for cosmetic use are described, obtained by reaction between lactide and a silicone initiator. Said copolymers are used for the preparation of cosmetic products such as lipsticks, facial cosmetic powders, creams, eyeliners, eye shadows.
Claims31
Biodegradable copolymers for cosmetic use obtained by reaction between lactide, at least one linear or branched silicone initiator with at least one alcoholic functionality in α and ν terminal position and a catalyst, the reaction is conducted with a concentration by weight of lactide ranging from 10% to 95% and with a concentration by weight of the at least one silicone initiator ranging from 5% to 90%, the biodegradable copolymers obtained by said reaction have a GPC molecular weight Mw ranging from 2 kDa to 30 kDa, characterized in that the silicone initiator is selected from a group comprising Carbinol bis-hydroxyterminated Polydimethylsiloxanes, Bis-Hydroxyethoxypropyl Dimethicone, Carbinol bis-hydroxyterminated Polydimethylsiloxanes, MonoCarbinol terminated Polydimethylsiloxanes, MonoDiCarbinol terminated Polydimethylsiloxanes, Linear and branched Hydroxy Functional Pre-Polymers, said at least one silicone initiator having a molecular weight greater than 1800 Da.
A cosmetic product comprising a biodegradable copolymer of PLA-PDMS-PLA blocks with fluid or paste consistency, wherein PLA indicates a polylactic acid block and PDMS indicates a polysiloxane silicone initiator block, the copolymer being obtained by reaction between L or D lactides, a linear or branched silicone initiator with at least one alcoholic functionality in α and ω terminal position and a catalyst, the reaction being conducted with a concentration by weight of lactide ranging from 10% to 50% and with a concentration by weight of the at least one silicone initiator ranging from 50% to 90%, the biodegradable copolymers obtained by said reaction have a GPC molecular weight Mw ranging from 2500 Da to 25000 Da, wherein the silicone initiator is hydroxyethoxypropyl dimethicone and has a molecular weight greater than 1800 Da.
A cosmetic composition comprising at least one of the following biodegradable PLA-PDMS-PLA block copolymers, wherein PLA indicates a polylactic acid block and PDMS indicates a polysiloxane silicone initiator block consisting of bis-hydroxyterminated dimethicone having a molecular weight Mw greater than 1800 Da:
- a) a copolymer having a fluid consistency at room temperature, with a molecular weight Mw of between 2500 Da and 3500 Da, a Brookfield viscosity v of between 250 cP and 20000 cP and a density comprised between 1.02 g/cm2 and 1.06 cm2 at 25° C., obtained by reacting a lactide in a concentration of 10% to 20% with a silicone initiator at a concentration of 80% to 90% by weight in the presence of a catalyst;
- b) a copolymer having a paste consistency at room temperature, with a molecular weight Mw of between 3500 Da and 6500 Da, a Brookfield viscosity v of between 130000 cP and 190000 cP at 50° C., obtained by reacting a lactide in a concentration of 40% to 60% by weight with a silicone initiator at a concentration of 60% to 40% by weight in the presence of a catalyst;
- c) a copolymer having a solid consistency at room temperature, with a molecular weight Mw of between 5000 Da and 21000 Da, a glass transition temperature Tg of between 20° C. and 60° C., and a melting temperature comprised between 130° C. and 190° C., obtained by reacting a lactide in a concentration of 75% to 95% by weight with a silicone initiator at a concentration of 25% to 5% by weight in the presence of a catalyst.
