Abstract
Compounds and methods for preparing and using the compounds are disclosed herein. The method for preparing the compounds may include contacting a metal ion or salt thereof with an alkali metal polyphosphate salt in an aqueous medium. The method may also include adding a base to increase a pH of the aqueous medium.
Claims16
A compound prepared by contacting a metal ion or a salt thereof with an alkali metal polyphosphate salt represented by formula (1)
- (XPO3)n (1),
- wherein X is an alkali metal and n is an average number of from about 3 to about 10, and
- wherein at least one of an atomic weight or a polarizability of the metal ion is relatively greater than the alkali metal (X) of the alkali metal polyphosphate salt.
