Abstract
Provided are methods of managing a terminal in a heterogeneous network (HetNet) environment. Between the methods, a method of managing a terminal performed in a base station includes determining whether or not a measurement change request event has occurred, and when a measurement change request event has occurred, transmitting a control message for instructing a change of a measurement operation to the terminal. Accordingly, it is possible to improve a measurement operation and discontinuous reception (DRX) operation control procedure necessary for connection control between one or more base stations and a terminal in a HetNet environment, and thereby performance of a system can be improved.
Claims12
An operation method of a first base station in a communication system, the operation method comprising:
- receiving, from a second base station which belongs to same local area as the first base station, a trigger message indicating occurrence of downlink data for a user equipment (UE) which operates in a restricted-connected state with the second base station;
- transmitting, to the UE, a paging message indicating the occurrence of the downlink data for the UE;
- and
- performing a connection operation with the UE.
An operation method of a user equipment (UE) in a communication system, the operation method comprising:
- operating in a restricted-connected state among an idle state, the restricted-connected state, and a connected state which are supported by a first base station;
- receiving a paging message indicating occurrence of downlink data for the UE from a second base station which belongs to same local area as the first base station;
- and
- performing a connection operation with the second base station.
