Abstract
Based on context received regarding a mobile communications device a server determines whether an existing network connection employed by the mobile communications device offers a level of security that is appropriate. When the server determines that the level of security is appropriate, the mobile communications device is allowed to continue using the network connection. Otherwise, the server directs the mobile communications device to terminate the network connection.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- receiving, at a server, first context information associated with a mobile communications device;
- analyzing, at the server, the first context information to determine whether a first existing network connection from the mobile communications device for a first application program executing on the mobile communications device offers a level of security appropriate for the first application program;
- and
- at the server in response to the analysis of the first context information:
- sending instructions to the mobile communications device to terminate the first existing network connection when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection does not offer the appropriate level of security, or
- allowing the first existing network connection to be maintained on the mobile communications device when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection offers the appropriate level of security.
A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon a plurality of instructions, which, when executed by a processor of a server, cause the server to:
- receive first context information associated with a mobile communications device;
- analyze the first context information to determine whether a first existing network connection from the mobile communications device for a first application program executing on the mobile communications device offers a level of security appropriate for the first application program;
- and
- in response to the analysis of the first context information:
- send instructions to the mobile communications device to terminate the first existing network connection when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection does not offer the appropriate level of security, or
- allow the first existing network connection to be maintained on the mobile communications device when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection offers the appropriate level of security.
A system, comprising a server with at least one processor and memory and instructions that when executed by the at least one processor cause the server to:
- receive first context information associated with a mobile communications device;
- analyze the first context information to determine whether a first existing network connection from the mobile communications device for a first application program executing on the mobile communications device offers a level of security appropriate for the first application program;
- and
- in response to the analysis of the first context information:
- send instructions to the mobile communications device to terminate the first existing network connection when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection does not offer the appropriate level of security, or
- allow the first existing network connection to be maintained on the mobile communications device when the analysis of the first context information determines that the first existing network connection offers the appropriate level of security.
