Adaptive resource allocation operations based on historical data in a distributed computing environment

A system for adaptive computation of a change in resource allocation using historical data in a distributed computing environment, the system comprising:

• at least one processor coupled to a memory storing computer readable program instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor:
• maintain historical data on resource consumption levels of an application;
• trigger one of an increase operation or reduction operation for a resource required an application instance of the application;
• compute a predicted consumption level for the resource required by the application instance;
• and
• compute and implement one of the increase or reduction operation for the resource required by the application instance to accommodate the predicted consumption level, thereby optimizing application efficiency and resource utilization in the distributed computing environment.

A computer program product for adaptive computation of a change in resource allocation using historical data in a distributed computing environment, by at least one processor, the computer program product embodied on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

• an executable portion that maintains historical data on resource consumption levels of an application;
• an executable portion that triggers one of an increase operation or reduction operation for a resource required an application instance of the application;
• an executable portion that computes a predicted consumption level for the resource required by the application instance;
• and
• an executable portion that computes and implements one of the increase or reduction operation for the resource required by the application instance to accommodate the predicted consumption level, thereby optimizing application efficiency and resource utilization in the distributed computing environment.
