Abstract
One or more management systems coordinate wavelength configuration patterns of a plurality of multi-wavelength optical transport nodes in an optical network for a first transport period. The one or more management systems determine data traffic demand changes in the optical network; and coordinate wavelength configuration patterns of the plurality of multi-wavelength optical transport nodes in the optical network for a second transport period, that is subsequent to the first transport period, based on the determined data traffic demand changes.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- assigning, at a network device, a first data flow of a plurality of data flows to a first optical wavelength of multiple optical wavelengths of an output interface of an optical router in an optical network;
- assigning, at the network device, a second data flow of the plurality of data flows to a second optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- receiving, at the network device, a traffic demand change request related to a change in traffic demand of the optical network;
- assigning, at the network device based on receipt of the traffic demand change request, the first data flow of the plurality of data flows to a third optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- and
- instructing, by the network device, the optical router to forward data traffic corresponding to the first data flow via the assigned third optical wavelength of the output interface of the optical router.
A network device comprising
- one or more processors configured to:
- assign a first data flow of a plurality of data flows to a first optical wavelength of multiple optical wavelengths of an output interface of an optical router in an optical network;
- assign a second data flow of the plurality of data flows to a second optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- receive a traffic demand change request related to a change in traffic demand of the optical network;
- assign, based on receipt of the traffic demand change request, the first data flow of the plurality of data flows to a third optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- and
- instruct the optical router to forward data traffic corresponding to the first data flow via the assigned third optical wavelength of the output interface of the optical router.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:
- one or more instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
- assign a first data flow of a plurality of data flows to a first optical wavelength of multiple optical wavelengths of an output interface of an optical router in an optical network;
- assign a second data flow of the plurality of data flows to a second optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- receive a traffic demand change request related to a change in traffic demand of the optical network;
- assign, based on receipt of the traffic demand change request, the first data flow of the plurality of data flows to a third optical wavelength of the multiple optical wavelengths of the output interface of the optical router;
- and
- instruct the optical router to forward data traffic corresponding to the first data flow via the assigned third optical wavelength of the output interface of the optical router.
