## Abstract

According to examples of present disclosure, a network device may group a first subset of client devices for beamforming transmissions using multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO), and also group a second subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets for simultaneous data transmission using multi-user orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (MU-OFDMA). The subset of client devices within the same group may be associated with different basic service sets.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A computer-implemented method, comprising:
initiating, by a network device, channel sounding, wherein channel sounding includes transmitting sounding frames to a first subset of client devices associated with two or more basic service sets, and wherein channel sounding facilitates beamforming transmissions to client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets;
receiving, by the network device, feedback frames from the first subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets, wherein a feedback frame indicates how a sounding frame was received; and
constructing, by the network device, a feedback table from the feedback frames, wherein the feedback table facilitates grouping of the first subset of client devices for beam forming transmissions.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
grouping, by the network device, a second subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets for simultaneous data transmission using multi-user orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (MU-OFDMA).

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the second subset of client devices do not overlap with the first subset of client devices.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the network device simultaneously transmits to the first subset of client devices using MU-MIMO beamforming and the second subset of client devices using MU-OFDMA.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, further comprising:
calculating an average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue to a particular client device;
grouping the particular client device based on the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, further comprising grouping the particular client device in the second subset of client devices in response to the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue being below a predetermined threshold value.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, further comprising grouping the particular client device in the first subset of client devices in response to the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue being above a predetermined threshold value.

### Claim 8

A network device, comprising:
one or more processors;
a non-transitory computer-readable medium containing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:
initiating channel sounding, wherein channel sounding includes transmitting sounding frames to a first subset of client devices associated with two or more basic service sets, and wherein channel sounding facilitates beamforming transmissions to client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets;
receiving feedback frames from the first subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets, wherein a feedback frame indicates how a sounding frame was received; and
constructing a feedback table from the feedback frames, wherein the feedback table facilitates grouping of the first subset of client devices for beamforming transmissions.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The network device of claim 8, wherein the operations further include:
grouping a second subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets for simultaneous data transmission using multi-user orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (MU-OFDMA).

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The network device of claim 9, wherein the second subset of client devices do not overlap with the first subset of client devices.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The network device of claim 9, wherein the operations further include:
simultaneously transmitting to the first subset of client devices using MU-MIMO beamforming and the second subset of client devices using MU-OFDMA.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The network device of claim 9, wherein the operations further include:
calculating an average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue to a particular client device;
grouping the particular client device based on the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The network device of claim 12, wherein the operations further include:
grouping the particular client device in the second subset of client devices in response to the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue being below a predetermined threshold value.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The network device of claim 12, wherein the operations further include:
grouping the particular client device in the first subset of client devices in response to the average packet size of data packets in the transmission queue being above a predetermined threshold value.

### Claim 15

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of a network device, including instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
initiate channel sounding, wherein channel sounding includes transmitting sounding frames to a first subset of client devices associated with two or more basic service sets, and wherein channel sounding facilitates beamforming transmissions to the first subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets;
receive feedback frames from the first subset of client devices associated with the two or more basic service sets, wherein a feedback frame indicates how a sounding frame was received; and
