Abstract
An object tracking means tracks objects in a video image. An object consolidation determination means generates a “container” which includes a plurality of objects located in proximity. When an object separation determination means determines that an object is released from the “container”, the object tracking means restarts tracking the object released from the “container”.

An object tracking device comprising:
- a memory storing instructions;
- and
- at least one processor configured to execute the instructions to perform;
- detecting an object from a video image;
- tracking of the object, based on information on the object detected;
- determining a grouping of objects that are in a proximity state in which objects are close to one another among objects being tracked;
- determining that the proximity state of the grouping of objects ends, based on a determination result of determining the grouping of the object;
- and
- correcting a tracking result of the object, based on a determination result of cancellation of the grouping of the object.

An object tracking method comprising:
- detecting an object from a video image;
- performing tracking of the object, based on information on the detected object;
- determining a grouping of objects that are in a proximity state in which objects are close to one another among the objects being tracked;
- determining that the proximity state of the grouping of objects ends, based on a determination result of the grouping of objects;

- correcting the tracking result, based on a determination result indicating that the grouping of objects is cancelled.
