A co-processing fraud risk scoring system for scoring electronic payment transactions for potential fraud, the fraud risk scoring system comprising:
- a message processor computing device in communication with a payment network;
- a first scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device;
- a first database coupled to the first scoring computing device, the first database storing a first set of cardholder profile data and a first set of risk scoring rules;
- a second scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device;
- and
- a second database coupled to the second scoring computing device, the second database storing a second set of cardholder profile data and a second set of risk scoring rules,
- the fraud risk scoring system configured to:
- transmit each authorization request of a plurality of authorization request messages for a corresponding plurality of payment transactions to either of the first and second scoring computing devices according to bank identification number of a cardholder account used to initiate each respective payment transaction;
- replicate cardholder profile data between the first database and the second database;
- determine that the first scoring computing device is not operating;
- terminate any processes for replicating cardholder profile data between the first database and the second database;
- generate profile update request messages associated with all bank identification numbers at the second scoring computing device and store the profile update request messages for processing by the first scoring computing device when the first scoring computing device is operational;
- subsequently determine that the first scoring computing device is operational;
- and
- transmit all stored profile update request messages from the second scoring computing device to the first scoring computing device.
A method for scoring electronic payment transactions for potential fraud, said method implemented by a co-processing fraud risk scoring system that includes a message processor computing device in communication with a payment network, a first scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device, a first database coupled to the first scoring computing device, the first database storing a first set of cardholder profile data and a first set of risk scoring rules, a second scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device, and a second database coupled to the second scoring computing device, the second database storing a second set of cardholder profile data and a second set of risk scoring rules, said method comprising:
- transmitting each authorization request of a plurality of authorization request messages for a corresponding plurality of payment transactions to either the first and second scoring devices according to bank identification number of a cardholder account used to initiate each respective payment transaction;
- replicating cardholder profile data between the first database and the second database;
- determining that the first scoring computing device is not operating;
- terminating any processes for replicating data between the first database and the second database;
- generating profile update request messages associated with all bank identification numbers at the second scoring computing device and store the profile update request messages for processing by the first scoring computing device when the first scoring computing device is operational;
- subsequently determining that the first scoring computing device is operational;
- and
- transmitting all stored profile update request messages from the second scoring computing device to the first scoring computing device.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, wherein when executed by a one or more processors of a co-processing fraud risk scoring system that includes a message processor computing device in communication with a payment network, a first scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device, a first database coupled to the first scoring computing device, the first database storing a first set of cardholder profile data and a first set of risk scoring rules, a second scoring computing device coupled to the message processor computing device, and a second database coupled to the second scoring computing device, the second database storing a second set of cardholder profile data and a second set of risk scoring rules, the computer-executable instructions cause the fraud risk scoring system to:
- transmit each authorization request of a plurality of authorization request messages for a corresponding plurality of payment transactions to either the first and second scoring devices according to bank identification number of a cardholder account used to initiate each respective payment transaction;
- replicate cardholder profile data between the first database and the second database;
- determine that the first scoring computing device is not operating;
- terminate any processes for replicating data between the first database and the second database;
- generate profile update request messages associated with all bank identification numbers at the second scoring computing device and store the profile update request messages for processing by the first scoring computing device when the first scoring computing device is operational;
- subsequently determine that the first scoring computing device is operational;
- and
- transmit all stored profile update request messages from the second scoring computing device to the first scoring computing device.
