Abstract
Embodiments described herein provide a platform, device and process for storing transaction data from a point of sale device (e.g., at a merchant) or from an intermediary data store so a representation of the data can later be presented to a customer. The data is stored, relevant data extracted, and additional data is combined to enable reconstruction of transaction data in a form for presentation of transaction data as an e-receipt on an online platform or allowing transaction data to be used as security questions for a user to whom the transaction data relates.
Claims20
A computer-network implemented method for processing transaction data to generate an electronic receipt for a transaction, the method comprising:
- receiving one or more data sets representing transaction data of a transaction, from one or more data stores associated with one or more point of sale computing devices, the transaction data including at least a transaction ID;
- processing the one or more data sets to extract the transaction data and to generate one or more associations between the transaction data, a merchant identifier corresponding with the point of sale computing device and one or more financial statement records stored at a financial institution computing system;
- maintaining an enhanced data structure storing the one or more financial statement records enhanced with the transaction data based on the one or more generated associations between the transaction data and the one or more financial statement records;
- and
- responsive to a received signal indicative of a request to view an electronic receipt, automatically generating:
- the electronic receipt based on the transaction ID and the enhanced data structure, and an electronic command for a display of an interface device to render presentation of the electronic receipt.
A computer-network implemented method for processing transaction data to generate an electronic receipt for a transaction, the method comprising:
- receiving an image of a receipt containing one or more data sets representing transaction data of a transaction, from a remote device associated with a user, the transaction data including at least a transaction ID;
- processing the image of the receipt to extract the transaction data and to generate one or more associations between the transaction data, the transaction ID, a merchant identifier corresponding with a point of sale computing device and one or more financial statement records stored at a financial institution computing system;
- maintaining an enhanced data structure storing the one or more financial statement records enhanced with the transaction data based on the one or more generated associations between the transaction data and the one or more financial statement records;
- and
- responsive to a received signal indicative of a request to view an electronic receipt, automatically generating:
- the electronic receipt based on the transaction ID and the enhanced data structure, and an electronic command for a display of an interface device to render presentation of the electronic receipt.
A computer system for processing transaction data to generate an electronic receipt for a transaction, the system comprising a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having machine readable instructions stored thereon, the instructions, when executed, configures the processor to:
- receive one or more data sets representing transaction data of a transaction, from one or more data stores associated with one or more point of sale computing devices, the transaction data including at least a transaction ID;
- process the one or more data sets to extract the transaction data and to generate one or more associations between the transaction data, a merchant identifier corresponding with the point of sale computing device and one or more financial statement records stored at a financial institution computing system;
- maintain an enhanced data structure storing the one or more financial statement records enhanced with the transaction data based on the one or more generated associations between the transaction data and the one or more financial statement records;
- and
- responsive to a received signal indicative of a request to view an electronic receipt, automatically generate:
- the electronic receipt based on the transaction ID and the enhanced data structure, and an electronic command for a display of an interface device to render presentation of the electronic receipt.
